There are many reasons why you would want to unlock your cell phone. We have listed some of the most common reasons below:
You want to move to a different carrier because your current one is charging too much. Carriers sometimes have very good promotions that can get you a relatively inexpensive phone plans but you need to bring your own device.
You travel a lot but want to use a local phone company when you’re there. Some companies such as ROAM mobility let you buy very cheap roaming plans but you have to bring your own phone for that.
You want to sell your phone. When you buy a new phone you usually put it up on Craigslist but you will notice that you can get up to $200 more for an unlocked phone. So you get your phone factory unlocked and can put that extra money towards your new phone.
After all, it’s your phone at the end of the day and you decide which carrier to use.
Unlocking your cell phone is very fast and simple with Phone Guru. You simply fill out our unlock intake form with the required information and complete your payment using VISA or MasterCard and we will email you the unlock codes with detailed instructions.
Alternatively, you can bring your phone into our location and one of our experts will take care of the whole process for you and the call you back with the unlock codes.
We don’t keep your phone for the unlock, we simply send you a series of unique numbers specifically generated for your phone to punch into the phone dialer, and that will unlock your phone. Our unlock codes are sourced directly from the manufacturer and sometimes this can take up to 2 days.
We will refund you the full amount if your phone can’t be unlocked. After all, why pay for something if it’s not fixed.
The price and duration of the unlock process vary on a case by case basis. The estimated wait times for phones locked to a Canadian carrier are as follows:

Phones locked to an international carrier can sometimes take longer than the timeframes listed above. Please note that the above timeframe is estimated based on the current unlocks we do. Your device could take longer (or less time).
We do not physically keep your cell phone during the unlocking process. You get to keep your phone and continue to use it as you normally do without interruption. Unlocking a cell phone permanently with Phone Guru will not impact your cell phone data, software, or relationship with your current network carrier.
Phone Guru only performs “Factory Unlocks”. This means that we are able to source our unlock codes directly from the manufacturer and it’s a guarantee that it will work permanently. This means that you will be able to get the latest updates and continue to use your cell phone as you’ve always been able to with the added ability to use SIM cards from other carriers.
On the rare occasion that we are not able to unlock your phone, you will be issued a full refund. However, it is your responsibility to make sure that your phone is not “Blacklisted” or “iCloud Locked” in Canada. Blacklisting means that your phone has been reported lost/stolen.
If your phone is Blacklisted we can unlock it. However, as a result of that the phone will not pick up cellular service in Canada or the United States. Please keep your receipt if you have paid by credit card or debit, as the authorization number is required to process a refund.
